Arkansas! First time in this state!

Well back on the road. We have seen many many armadillos......all sleeping at the side of the road 😬. They are such cool dudes but prefer to see them alive. So a guy named "Cowboy" ...well we named him that,  his actual name was Clint.  But he said you know how you tell if someone is from down south? Ask them to spell Mississippi..... If you spell it proudly as Mississippi.... you are not from down south....if you spell it like this.... you are truly from the south.... Mi "crooked letter" "crooked letter " I "crooked letter" "crooked letter" I ""hump back" "hump back" I. Mississippi song So far central Arkansas is similar to northern Missouri, rolling hills and quite a lot of trees. Lots of dogwood trees here. As today is a travel day, I always love to take pics off cute or odd things along the way. This road to the college is very aptly named...Opportunity Avenue"... Which light is ours.....co...

Last day in Branson.

Loving the lazy days now, no real long driving days. Started a bit overcast but warm..nothing but shorts here on in! Yay!  Today is an outdoors kinda day. Took a drove out to a great lookout of the city. And I eye-spied a turtle in the woods.... thought he was lost or ran away from home....but apparently...not uncommon here. Great observation tower...the view was amazing! Lu hitched a ride instead of walking! Stopped by the Chateau on the Lake.... We were walking by a group of people and Lu frightened a lady....like really frightened her....to where she backed up with a look of terror........we kept walking and someone else wanted to meet her and I said. ..."She just put the fear of God in a Lady....... then I found out we were in the midst of a "Women's spiritual conference" of 1300 women" .😂🤣😅 Found a great Lookout...a great vi...

April 27 Chilling in Branson!

Lazy start to the day. Weather was overcast with light showers so no real hurray to start the day. Enjoying full hookups and the joys of lots of water.  One thing I struggle with as an avid recycler and composted is when RVing.....these services are not readily available...not in the USA nor Canada. I cringe at the thought of throwing all that stuff in the trash....but I don't always have a choice, so I cry a little inside.. Lu loves the dog playground....she is crazy when she finds another dog to play with but if nobody is there, she can have fun all by herself. First time leaving Lu in the RV (with the help of some special  meds).  It's so nice being close to town. Just a short walk and we were downtown. Great water and music show in the main shopping area. A new way of paying for shoes.....wow Steph....found your new semi-retirement job..and they are hiring!! Ridemakerz!!! Wandered around downtown ...

April 26 - We made it... and so the holiday relaxing begins!

After a great night's sleep we are back on the road again. The only difference is today should be the last longish day until we head north again.  Wind...wind... and more wind....Kansas is definitely windy.  What we noticed is that they do a lot of grass burning to rejuvenate the vegetation. An interesting concept! Many many more miles of flat land. As we got closer to the Oklahoma and Missouri/Arkansas border we noticed more trees and hills. We did make it into Oklahoma,  we were not sure if we would or not, but we did. First town we came across was Picher, Oklahoma. It was pretty desolate, like a tornado wiped it out. Thanks to Google, we found out why.  Picher ghost town Pit stop time for Lu! She had a great time all by herself! We are getting used to all the new fuel station names over here... And the road signs.... what the heck is this about??? After a very rural...very winding road...

April 25 - Two more days on the road...

Enjoyed a  quiet night in Kaycee Wyoming. Before we left I just had to show George the RV campsite office which was a very impressive quilt shop! Sew Ewe! The owner and her husband, newly retired, bought this property and her passion is quilting... and what a labour of love it is. They spent several months renovating the inside and have many ideas and dreams planned for the property as well as the RV Park and cabins. Left fairly early on our way to North Platte Nebraska, fairly flat, lots of wide open spaces..hours and hours of driving through farm land..scrub... and more farm land...lots of cows, miles and miles of brown cows, then black cows then white cows..it's never ending.  Some may say hours and hours of driving through this would be boring...but it's all interesting and we talk and imagine what people do living out here, and what we see and think it and speculate ...and then sometimes we just Google it...OMG Google has been an amazing textbook on this trip!...
