Road to New Orleans!

It was sad to leave such a great inexpensive campsite, but New Orleans is calling!

Lots of farmland on the drive, and more neatly manicured lawns.  There are very few fences here, one lawn runs into the other. The guy last night said, "if you own it, you plant it and mow it! It's a pride of ownership thing down here"


The grass is way different than back home, its very flat and has lots of clover in it.

Stopped at a small town at the Walmart and well.....let's say....we are the minority now...well George and I are, Lu fits right in.  So interesting to hear the very strong accents down here now. You really have to listen closely to understand people.

As we got closer to New Orleans we saw way more water. They have so many bridges and overpasses here.

No idea how to pronounce this one?
Our campsite was clear across New Orleans....George was so calm driving through this....can't say the same for his co-pilot!!

We took a little scenic route through this narrow tunnel and then Roxanne (the GPS) had us go back through it as we took a wrong turn! Finally arrived at our site. It seems to be mainly for local workers and their families, but way cheaper than the alternatives at $110.00 US a night plus taxes!!! Yikes

Left South Dakota this morning, through a part of Wyoming and into Montana. The scenery in this area is really gorgeous.  But before long the weather changed...storms up ahead and apparently through the night in Bozeman. Free night at the Walmart with about another 30  or so RV/camper vans......hoping for a quiet night...cold here tonight....used the furnace for the first time in a very long time on this trip...brrrr

Long time coming....

 It's been a very very long 2 years waiting...patiently waiting.....for things to return to normal... We were set to embark on this same holiday in March 2020 when Covid changed everything for everyone. Now 2 years later, our travel furbaby has changed. We lost our beloved Gracie before we could enjoy another big trip with her.  She was an amazing traveller and we were so fortunate to have been able to make many memories with her over the 14 years of RV adventures! We loved every minute of it and miss her dearly. And then along came Lucy Lu. Oh the adventures she will have!

June 10 - Lazy day

Today was a lazy day. As no cell service and wifi at the campground, I needed some down time to book some stuff. Found a great dog park and Lu made a new little friend... Like little....8 week old little pitti.... They had a great time and then back into town. Just like most towns outside of a National Park...there's a bear thing going on. We didn't stay long....little walking...late lunch and back to the trailer. George hitting the enormous candy store....$22.00 later.....omg Second night of firefly watching was even better than the first. We saw some Blue Ghost fireflies....the males stay lit for up to a minute and glow a soft blue colour...there are not many in this area as they are mostly in the Asheville forests so I was super excited to see them.
