June 15 - another day North West bound

Today was another drive day. Still warm here but the further north we go the cooler it is supposed to be.

Another early start. More farm land, more of the "You own it you mow it" landscaping that we saw on the way south.

We knew we were back in Missouri with the crazy road signs....essentially these are all very rural roads...George says no more "letter roads" ...we may have gone down one by accident this morning....

This essentially explains the amount of wind we are driving through right now.....there were many and they were all moving ....not great for the fuel bill.

It was pretty un-eventful scenery until we had a detour and ended up driving through an area of what's called the Loess Hills. It's an area of about 15 miles wide by 200 miles long that are hills made of windblown soil dating back to the last ice age. We would not have really known this except for all the "ledges" in the landscape so I decided to "Google" it.

It's hard to see in the pictures but the dark ridges are actually ledges like a tiered garden...they are all over the hills in this area, very cool. Apparently the farmers do this here to preserve this type of soil.

Today we drove through Missouri about 4 hours....drove through Iowa about 4 hours ... then crossed the Missouri River into Nebraska for about 5 minutes to the RVSite.

After a long day of driving, it was nice to get into the RV site in South Sioux City Nebraska about 4:30 and relax a bit. Temperatures are a little easier to handle...29 degrees felt like a relief.

Finally able to open the windows and let the cool breeze in...10:00 pm and it's a very comfortable 22 degrees...

...I am missing the fireflies already.....
