June 7 - Brevard & Blue Ridge Parkway

Somebody was way too relaxed to get going this morning....


Set off today to check out some waterfalls on the way to  a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Hooker Falls was a nice short hike down, weather was a bit cooler today which was OK with us.


Then off to Triple Falls on the other side of the parking lot....conveniently located. 




Back on the road to Brevard before the rain started.  We have seen our fair share of squirrels, and Lu has chased her fair share of squirrels...but we have never seen a white one until today.

 Apparently the squirrels here are actually eastern Grey squirrels with a mutation in their genes that makes the coats white. Pretty cute!


And they must have been pretty proud of them here ...they were all over town...They even have festivals!!!




Did a bit of shopping before the rain started. Stopped at another waterfall before we got on a portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway.



It was a little stormy and cloudy so the first little bit of the drive the beautiful views were not there for us...



By the time we got to the Pisgah Inn the clouds lifted quite a bit...gorgeous....I would love to be sitting on those rockers in the fall...





At one of the viewpoints we saw these two guys and their dog...playing some beautiful music and recording it...so fitting for the view...





There were so many viewpoints and I made George stop at each one.....just in case....


We found a great dog friendly brewery, you can even bring them inside!!! Love it



And one of the best meals on this trip...the most amazing rice bowl ever! The layers of flavour of each item was just to die for!!


Only a few fireflies again tonight....maybe tomorrow 🌙

Left South Dakota this morning, through a part of Wyoming and into Montana. The scenery in this area is really gorgeous.  But before long the weather changed...storms up ahead and apparently through the night in Bozeman. Free night at the Walmart with about another 30  or so RV/camper vans......hoping for a quiet night...cold here tonight....used the furnace for the first time in a very long time on this trip...brrrr

Long time coming....

 It's been a very very long 2 years waiting...patiently waiting.....for things to return to normal... We were set to embark on this same holiday in March 2020 when Covid changed everything for everyone. Now 2 years later, our travel furbaby has changed. We lost our beloved Gracie before we could enjoy another big trip with her.  She was an amazing traveller and we were so fortunate to have been able to make many memories with her over the 14 years of RV adventures! We loved every minute of it and miss her dearly. And then along came Lucy Lu. Oh the adventures she will have!

June 10 - Lazy day

Today was a lazy day. As no cell service and wifi at the campground, I needed some down time to book some stuff. Found a great dog park and Lu made a new little friend... Like little....8 week old little pitti.... They had a great time and then back into town. Just like most towns outside of a National Park...there's a bear thing going on. We didn't stay long....little walking...late lunch and back to the trailer. George hitting the enormous candy store....$22.00 later.....omg Second night of firefly watching was even better than the first. We saw some Blue Ghost fireflies....the males stay lit for up to a minute and glow a soft blue colour...there are not many in this area as they are mostly in the Asheville forests so I was super excited to see them.
